2023 Thrift Gala
Wear the change you want to see in the world: Sustainable fashion for a sustainable future.
On Friday, April 14, 2023, head to FlowSpace (117 NW 16th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601) for the 2nd annual Thrift Gala. Don't forget to bring your own cup! #UNLITTER

Vision
The second annual Thrift Gala, now held annually in the spring, is a way for members of the UF community and beyond to get involved in the local sustainability scene, regardless of thrifting experience.
The Thrift Club and #UNLITTER at the University of Florida wants to raise awareness about the fashion industry's negative impact on our planet. Our inaugural Thrift Gala aimed to promote the circular economy of clothing. This will be a platform to display our best thrifted finds, including extravagant pieces that we wouldn't typically wear on the everyday. Think of it as the sustainable version of the Met Gala!
We encourage you to #UNLITTER your closet and get creative with things around your house, like making a dress out of plastic water bottles. But if that's not your style, just come in your best thrifted outfit - high fashion is welcome, creativity encouraged.

DETAILS
At the event, there will be a styled thrifted fashion show and several booths to learn more about thrifting in Gainesville, as well as other ways to live a positive and sustainable #UNLITTER lifestyle. We will award a prize to the best-dressed attendee and select a few individuals from the crowd to join our models for the fashion show. The fashion show will feature work from local thrift stores and creators.
The upcoming event will feature live music from a local band and an "afterparty" with a DJ later in the evening. Throughout the event, local vendors, artists, and creatives will gather to showcase sustainable practices in Gainesville. Join us for a gala-level event, all while wearing thrifted or repurposed pieces and bringing your own cup.

Our goal at the University of Florida's #UNLITTER and Thrift Club is to bring the community together to celebrate sustainability. The Thrift Gala will feature live music from a local band, an after-party with a DJ, and showcase local vendors, artists, and creatives who are working towards a more sustainable future. So grab your friends, bring your own cup, and let's make this a Gala-level event all while wearing thrifted or repurposed pieces.
